Michal Sagar

Michal Sagar is a multidisciplinary artist whose work explores the intersections of memory, history, and identity through painting, drawing, and mixed media. Based in Minneapolis, Sagar has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions across the United States and internationally. Above all, Sagar’s practice is anchored in drawing.

Born and educated in the United States, Sagar earned her Master of Fine Arts in Visual Studies from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and Drawing from the San Francisco Art Institute, recently retiring as the Chair of the Visual Arts Department at Breck School in Minneapolis.

Influenced by the exchange between personal history and collective narratives, her practice incorporates complex material processes that open an evocative presence, as seen in her most recent solo exhibitions, Sight Between (2024), What Remains (2022), and A Fertile Emptiness (2018) at Form+Content Gallery.
